Very practical fluids engineering guide

Book was well worth the money. Compariable in price to any academic text. I bought it new, which is a reprint of the classic Blevins text. It doesn't come with any dust cover. I was looking for pipe & fitting loss calculations, which it goes over extensively. Serves as a good guide for actual engineering, since it contains a good balance of theory, design guidelines, and applied data from experimentation on most fluid mechanics type problems.

This book is an excellent and exhaustive treatment of the engineering aspects of fluid flow in pipes, through components, and in open channel situations, not to mention nearly every other situation that a mechanical engineer might encounter. As an engineer with fluids and thermal system design experience, I highly recommend this work to anyone in this field. Especially useful are the exhaustive tables of K - values for nearly every imaginable component, including partially open valves, screens, and almost every imaginable type of pipe. This book is well worth the price.

"I peeled the sheet back to reveal his 9 inch, thick pipe." "I positioned my body so that my 36D breasts..." Two highly unerotic measurements within two paragraphs; I'm betting Ms. Downlow is a male erotica author.

Also, while we're on the subject, "I buried my nose in his big, loose ball sac and inhaled deeply, causing the skin to clog my nasal passages." is the single LEAST erotic thing I've ever read, counting the phone book.

The writing is competent, though, so if you enjoy seeing cocks likened to pickles and having each "Sluuuurrrrrpppp!" spelled out for you, this could be for you.

My first issue was the sounds and moans being written out liiiiikeeeee thiiiiiiiissssss. Then came the weak characters, the sad attempt at a story line, and a random declaration of love. I got this for free, and still feel cheated for downloading this childish attempt at erotica. Dear God.

Totally enjoyed this story! I read both versions, the shorter version in the "Summer Heat" anthology and this version. I thought the first version I read was good but, this extended version was hotter and more detailed. I liked the longer version waaayyyy better and even with the extended and more detailed version, I wanted more... I was sorry to see it end -Ms. Downlow always brings the steam!

A succesful young presidency.

Superb account of the Kennedy years in the White House by a participant in many of the events. New material on several of the events, including the Russian missile crisis and the Bay of Pigs before that. His domestic program is newly reviewed and clearly Indicated the path to the Civil Rights bill. Some of the flaws of his Presidency are presented, although not all. Schlesinger clearly finds Kennedy a young, vigorous man whose death robbed us of a potentially great President.

History written by a participant in its making. This narrative is as objective as one could be given the close relationship the author had to President Kennedy. A perspective du jour doesn't lessen this review of a pivotal thousand days in American history.

Great firsthand account of the Kennedy Years

This book is one of the most thorough firsthand accounts of the Kennedy administration and takes an almost exhaustive look at many of the things that occurred during the administration. While some of the conclusions have been tempered with history and new evidence coming to light (particularly on the Bay of Pigs and the Civil Rights record) this is still considered the definitive book on the Kennedy years in the white house and should deserve that distinction. Schlesinger who served as a special advisor to the president (much like Ken O'Donnell of Thirteen Days fame) provides a unique view to a complicated man, politician, and president. Kennedy offered hope to a generation of Americans and by extension to many people of the world. He was firm yet promised compassion through his negotiations with the Soviets, Peace Corps and commitment to Civil Rights.

While there are a few points in the book where Schlesinger props up his own importance at a particular point and digresses for about 50 pages or so the remainder of the book is very spot on with what was occurring, why decisions were made and what the effects of those decisions were. Sadly Schlesinger was not as involved in the Executive Committee (Ex-Com) as other special assistants were so much of what has happened at that point was not related in this book and the role that the committee played is kept to almost a minimum. I will point out that even as a Republican I found the book fair and while lacking in detail at some points it is still the most complete work that is published on Kennedy and to those who claim bias: the man worked in the Kennedy administration so take that bias into account as you read and enjoy a firsthand look at a complicated presidency and pivotal point in American history. Overall well worth the time to read.
