Resistance is Futile

I did rehab a couple of years ago for my ankle and one thing I got out of it is how much resistance bands helped. My mobility in my ankles wasn't up to par, but using resistance in my routine definitely improved how far I could bend.
Dr. Knopf put together a book that is easy to navigate. Between the intro and overview of the do and don'ts with technique ( I didn't know you had to slightly bend up for proper spine alignment when lying on your back), I feel anyone should feel secure in approaching the use of resistance bands. They are great for training or for healing. There a bunch of exercises in the book I didn't think you could use resistance bands for, but with pictures that clearly illustrate the moves, it's easy to see how the bands can help in almost every exercise. What's also great is while reading, since I purchased the kindle edition, there is actually clickable links on the exercises that will take you to the step-by-step guide for the corresponding workout.

Very helpful book

This book has "doable" exercises for average people who are not professional athletes . Some other books assume the reader is in his/her 20's and in peak condition .
There are exercises for those with limited range of motion due to injury or arthritis and some for more agile people . I think this book would also be helpful for Seniors trying to maintain mobility.

Great book with lots of wonderful exercises to help you along the rehab path. I have been using the techniques to strengthen my ankles and knees. Resistance training is so wonderful!

Disappointed

I had high hopes for this book as we find ourselves designing UIs for screens of varied resolutions. It seems like Illustrator would be the perfect program to step up and become a prominent tool for this - so long pixels and Photoshop! It may still do that, but this book won't help. It doesn't offer much in the way of using Illustrator specifically for UI design beyond what any junior designer already knows nor is it a great general intro to Illustrator. It seems thin on substance - like maybe it commissioned by Adobe on a tight deadline. Also, the examples are painfully uninspiring. I was investigating using this a textbook for a class I was teaching, but students' money would be better spent on a month subscription to any quality software and coding training service.

Biography of a UI Designer

The book is very helpful with UI design about 1/3 of the way into the book. I often found myself bored by the commentary of the author. I really just wanted to know good practices versus mistakes they had made. Just let me know what works and doesn't work and why it doesn't work. Money wasted when the main discovery of the book is that your web graphics from illustrator are blurry because your settings aren't right and your pixels don't line up perfectly. A few blog tutorials would have sufficed for the amount of information is present.

This book is great for beginners who do not know illustrator and want to learn website design.

Good Illustrator tutorial

Good detailed instructions on the use of Illustrator. It covers the basics of the program use, not about the principles of UI.
The only thing, I had problem using assets because of the older software version I have on my computer. But I learned many new things I have not know before.

A clear, concise, and very handy Latin Grammar

Intelligently organized and formatted, this Latin grammar is an excellent resource for beginning and intermediate Latin students. In his preface, the author states that he intends the book to supersede the classic Latin grammar written by Benjamin Hall Kennedy. I'm not familiar with that work, apparently a mainstay of British Latin students for generations. My own acquaintance is with the grammars of American Latinists such as Bennett, Gildersleeve, Hadley, and Allen & Greenough.
The author has wisely chosen to leave out cumbersome, needless detail. Instead, clarity and simplicity are everywhere in abundance. Each section describing a specific grammatical point begins with examples of the construction -- if an analogue exists -- in English. In an age where students' knowledge of basic English grammar can no longer be taken for granted, this is a useful feature indeed.
Arguably the best feature of the book is the way in which grammar points are illustrated by short, easily comprehensible Latin sentences in bold type, with accompanying translations. To his credit, Morwood has studiously avoided the approach found in grammars of yesteryear, viz., using much longer sentences pulled out of classical Latin authors such as Caesar or Cicero to illustrate even the most simple grammatical rule.
The value of the book for teachers is enhanced by the inclusion in each chapter of practice sentences in both Latin (some of which are from classical authors) and English. Separate English-Latin and Latin-English vocabularies at the back of the book are designed to accompany the practice exercises. There is also a "reference grammar" overview of the verb system, bordered with a grey margin for ease of reference. The book also contains a very handy Glossary of Grammatical Terms.
In all, a splendid little book of enormous utility; highly recommended for those seeking a clearly written and easy to understand treatment of basic Latin grammar.

Short and sweet

This is not a course in Latin but on the other hand it is not a reference grammar either. As the introduction says, "it aims to be a 'primer' (a first book) and at the same time something more than that." In fact, it is a short introduction to all the major grammatical points of the language as well as a handy reference for the accidence, without covering all the fine points you would expect to find in a true reference grammar like Gildersleeve. I particularly like the convenient groupings of things like place words (ubi, hic, illic, inde, etc.) and some of the confusing adverbs and conjunctions like quidem, quin, quominus, and quamuis (not quamvis, note; the letter "v" is not used in this book). There are a few short exercises, but no keys. Appendices cover dates, money, Roman names, literary terms, and weights and measures. A short vocabulary includes only words used in the exercises. All in all, a surprising amount of information is packed into less than 200 pages, yet the book does not feel at all dense or cramped.

An Accessible Guide to the Latin Language

The Latin grammar by James Morwood is a smoothly flowing, accessible guide to the Latin language, providing many short sentence examples and explaining nouns and noun inflection, adjectives, adverbs, verb conjugation, and sentence construction in depth. The readability is excellent, and the information presented is easily utilized.

Surprisingly Lovable

I bought this book because of the fun storyline, however I really didn't have high expectations regarding the overall writing quality of it. Even though in the beginning of the book I thought about hitting the home button on my Kindle, due to the sheer annoyance of the main character, Lucy, i'm so glad I stuck with it because in the end I couldn't put this book down (I seriously stayed up till 5:00am reading it). Throughout the book you see Lucy transform from a spoiled little girl who values money and appearances above all else, to a young women who is just beginning to understand what truly matters in life. The paranormal aspect of the plot could seem a little cliche because of its vampire/werewolf friction, however throw in a little necromancer action and you've got yourself a winner.

This book was a super fun and well written paranormal read and I seriously can't wait until the second book comes out, I will definitely be stalking the release date on Goodreads.

Just a good time over all!

Found it delightful actually, which surprised me. I don't really go for formula supernatural teen love stories, but since it was free, figured it was worth a shot. So, not only was it was enjoyable, it was surprisingly so!

Having a spoiled, vapid teen have her world wrecked in the blink of an eye and how she chose to fight back was fun and funny. She just keeps rolling with the punches while everyone around her thinks she's just a brat, when actually, she's a clever young woman with a good heart and some admirable goals.

Highly recommend this one for easy, good vampire fun!

Not very likable characters

I almost put this book down only a few pages in. It got better, but not enough to save it. Every character except the grandmother is terribly shallow and selfish. They never quite achieved 3 dimensionality. Fell flat and too self centered to even care about. The story line itself was good and could be a good book, if it wasn't filled with spoiled rotten brats.
