Wonderful Book

I have always been overwhelmed by the thought of GETTING ORGANIZED, and the time and energy involved, this book breaks everything down into small tasks. I finally feel like I can live in a home that I am proud of and where everything has its place. Instead of saying I want to be organized someday I feel like this book is giving me a road map to get organized today. The book is broken up into a chapter for each room, then each room is broken down into achievable 8 minute tasks, if something would probably take more than 8 minutes, think your closet, then it is broken down into 8 minute activties, e.g. shoes, purses... you get the idea. Instead of being overwhelmed by the whole you are comforted by the knowledge that in 8 minutes you're done, or not, if you want to string a few things together there is guidance for that as well. I feel like I have finally, finally found the information I need. I bought the Kindle version, one less thing to put on that bookshelf. Thank You, Regina.

Perhaps her most useful book yet...

While all of Regina's books have been first-rate, this latest one, "The 8 Minute Organizer", may be the most useful one yet. Because I'm so naturally disorganized myself, I'm something of a junkie for books and systems to bring some kind of order to my world. Regina's other books have been very helpful for that - giving me organizational tasks that I can schedule throughout the year on my way to perfect neatness. But I've never seemed to accomplish them all. Some projects are just a bit large and intimidating.

The genius of this book is that it has broken down organizational tasks into 8 minute sprints - units of work short enough that they don't scare me and that I have no excuse not to incorporate into my day. Unlike previous books that grouped organizational tasks by time of year - this one is organized by the area of your home. Pick the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen or your files - and there's a chapter full of eight-minute mini-tasks focused around that area. You can pick the room most in need of attention. Or, as Regina suggests, you can pick one that's not quite as intimidating and build up your skills.

There are several things I especially like about Regina's approach. First of all, she's called the "Zen Organizer" for a reason. There's a definite undercurrent of calm, meditative philosophy in her books. You aren't just organizing so that you can cram more stuff into your life. You are trying to achieve a healthy balance and a strong and calm mental and physical foundation for peace and tranquility. She even has advice on diet, exercise and meditation. You're not just bringing order to your stuff. You're bringing order to your life.

Another thing that's a personal preference of mine is that I don't like to be given TOO many choices in how to approach something. Or if there are choices, I want to be pointed at a "preferred" option. If I'm given the opportunity, I can tend to get lost in choosing the perfect organizational tools and systems instead of actually organizing. Regina tends to just tell you what to do, and I like that. Sure there are choices, but she'll often indicate her personal preference, so I can just follow the clear instructions and get right down to business.

If you've had trouble getting started in organizing because your life is just too chaotic, this may be a perfect book for you.

Anyone can find 8 minutes

I love this book! I have read a lot of books about organizing , but I feel like this one will be the one to change my life. I was not born organized, but it turns out that organizing is a skill that can be taught. Before I had kids I had managed to get fairly organized, thanks to Regina Leeds and "The Zen of Organizing", but by the time my 4th child was born my home was a disaster again because the kids just have so much STUFF. I'm a stay-at-home mom and my kids can make a mess MUCH faster than I can clean it up. My attitude had become, "Why bother? The kids are just going to destroy it anyway." Finally I read this book and a number of things really struck a chord with me. First of all, anybody can find 8 minutes. Of course, you're not going to organize your entire home in 8 minutes, but the book is full of ways to break a task into smaller parts, so you really can accomplish something in 8 minutes. You can set a timer for 8 minutes and if that's all the time you have you can do something else without guilt. Even if the 8 minutes only makes a small difference, it's still a change in a positive direction.I have found that seeing how much I can accomplish in 8 minutes motivates me to do more. Not only are tasks broken down into manageable pieces, the book is full of gentle reminders that you CAN do this and it's full of practical tips for how to organize specific items. This book was well worth the money.

About the Author
Brantly Womack is Professor of Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia, and has been named an honorary professor at Jilin University in Changchun and East China Normal University in Shanghai. He is the author of Foundations of Mao Zedong's Political Thought and Politics in China (with James Townsend), and the editor of a number of books, including Contemporary Chinese Politics in Historical Perspective (Cambridge University Press, 1991). After receiving his BA Magna cum Laude in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Dallas in 1969, Womack began studying Chinese while on a Fulbright Scholarship in Philosophy to the University of Munich. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago, where Tang Tsou was his mentor. After post-doctoral studies at the Contemporary China Center of the University of California, Berkeley, he taught at Northern Illinois University and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London before going to the University of Virginia. He has served as Director of the East Asia Center, Chair of the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures, and Director of the University's International Activities Planning Commission. He has made frequent visits to China since 1978 and to Vietnam since 1985, and has published articles comparing their politics and exploring their relationship in World Politics, Government and Opposition, the China Journal, Asian Survey, Pacific Affairs, and elsewhere. His articles on asymmetry in international relations have appeared in the Journal of Strategic Studies, the Journal of Contemporary China and Pacific Affairs.

Eye opening

This book is astonishing in it's scholarship and depth. It's not the sort of thing you take to bed for a light read after a hard day. The information is densely packed and most pages contained at least a few spots where I had to stop and ponder the implications of what I'd just read. Like poetry, there's hardly a word that could be left out. I wouldn't recommend this to just anyone, but for those interested in either or both countries, Womack's brilliant and lucid description of the very human factors propelling international relations, the motives, fears and misunderstandings behind the headlines, will cause you to see China and Vietnam in a richer and more vital way.

An educational system that was designed to promote failure.  How his issues went from an unknown or at best described as “he is just being lazy” to a challenge that affects millions of students today. Whether it be ADD or one of its varieties the language has certainly grown up and exploded. I was there I grew up in a school system that had no idea what was holding my education process back. I lived the frustration. I cried the tears and silently cursed the system that was pushing a square peg through a round hole. I survived and some might say that I thrived to get to the other side. The components of my learning issues will always be with me. Yet the strategies that minimalize those components are now my tools for life. I want to invite you to take a look back at my journey. Grow alongside of me as you and someone around you is traveling this journey. Three Hot Reads from 3 Great Authors

Loved these quick 3 stories.

Lora Leigh- Sheila's Passion was a quick passionate and exotic read. If you've read Lora's stuff before you won't be disappointed. I bet if she wrote erotic stories about rocks you would have to get a fan to cool yourself off. Lora has a way of writing and descriptions that clearly leave their mark on you as you read the story. This story is about Sheila and how she has found the man she loves although because her father is a high ranking military official she has been burned before being in a relationship with a man who only needed her to get to where her father could promote him, so she is leery to believe that anyone would want her solely. Nick and Sheila burn up the sheets through the entire story but the mad man out there watching thinks Nick is someone else in hiding and uses Sheila to try and shake him out of hiding, although he's got the wrong man. Great story hope theres more to come from this one.

Cheyenne McCray -Deadly Dance is another quick read that covers the details of Keri a woman who was injured and terrified by an old boyfriend who she helps put in jail, and Detective Adam Boyd who's partner who was killed by the same man. The detective finds out that Carter has gotten out of jail on a technicality after only 7 years in prison and stops a hit from going down on Keri. The story is sweet and you can feel the emotions between Keri and Adam, and the suspense is good as well. Always love Cheyenne McCray's stories and you will probably like this one too.

Red Garnier - Caught is the first story I've read of Red's, and was impressed with the angst and sensuality of the story between Meg and Cody. Meg has loved Cody since she was a kid and Cody and his twin brother Ivan both wanted Meg. Ivan however is the darker of the twin brothers and tells Cody if he takes something he loves then he will take something that Cody loves and that ends up being his parents who Ivan kills when they are 16 years old. Through the years Cody grows up to be a homicide detective and puts his brother in jail as a juvenile but he breaks out pretending to be Cody and goes after Meg. Cody tells himself he can't have Meg because he has a killer's blood running through his veins but he finally lets down his guard to take Meg to bed 7 years later as well as taking the virginity she saved for him alone. I won't spoil the ending but they all lived HEA.

Legally Hot, more like Legally NOT

I am a huge fan of the three authors so I was super excited to pick this up, what a disappointment. No attempt was made at cohesive stories or ingratiating characters. The absolute worst unfortunately came from my personal favorite, Lora Leigh. Sheila is so annoyingly juvenile and wishy washy it is impossible to understand why Casey would love her. The other 2 stories were just completely forgettable, not either authors best work.

Legally lukewarm is more like it

Three short stories which involve men in uniform, sort of.

Series: Sheila's Passion (Wounded Warriors, 0.75)

The Stories
Lora Leigh's Sheila's Passion is interesting, but Leigh needs to come up with a better premise for the driving purpose behind this. Her bad guy is chasing down someone he sees as betraying the family "trust", an Italian mob family's responsibilities to those under them. Gio "betrayed" all who relied upon him by loving his daughter and protecting that love. Now, the son whom Gio taught about love has escaped the Family. Disguised himself. So the bad guy is hunting for Beauregard and hurting, torturing, killing anyone close to any man he suspects might be Beau. It's his excuse. I ain't buyin' it.

So, this particular storyline has the bad guy focused on Shelia Rutledge and Nick Casey. Shelia's father Captain Douglas Rutledge is in charge of an intelligence post. One of the groups which gather intel is headquartered in/at Ethan Cooper's bar where Nick works as a bouncer where Sheila picks up the intel and how she met Nick. Both Nick and Sheila have their particular aversion to getting romantically involved so there's the usual give-and-take until a crisis forces them to acknowledge it. The romance in this is good, typical Lora Leigh; it's the underlying premise that really drags this down.

Cheyenne McCray's Deadly Dance is cute with the very protective Detective Adam Boyd, NYPD, falling in love with a witness who is threatened by the release from jail of her attacker. Keri Holliday was on the verge of a breakthrough in her ballet career when her boyfriend Edward Carter "objected" to her dumping him. Well, the twit did make the mistake of threatening to take her evidence about him to the police... It's a nice, sweet story but no great drama.

Red Garnier's Caught is a clash between twin brothers, one of whom is a sociopath who kills their parents. The other goes on to a career in law enforcement determined to make up for his twin as well as what he sees as his own failures. It's years later that Cody Nordstrom encounters Megan again. The same Megan over whom he and Ivan clashed. The same Megan he doesn't feel worthy of. The same woman who loves Cody and, this time, won't take no for an answer. This is the best of the three IMO even though I'm getting really tired of the "poor me" routine.

The title...hmmm...yes, it's about men in uniform and I'd say it was more lukewarm than hot.
